Hokies United: Honoring Those Who Protect & Serve

Mission

Hokies United™ is a student-driven volunteer effort organized to respond to local, national, and international tragedies that may impact our students and community. This website will serve as a comprehensive source of information listing efforts within the university and community and provide directions and opportunities to anyone who would want to contribute for a noble cause.

Reason we are involved

In keeping with the goal of to responding to local, national, and international tragedies that may impact our students and community, Hokies United is sponsoring a week long campaign to honor those who protect and serve our community.

Every member of the Hokie Community is being asked to wear a blue ribbon next Saturday, September 2, 2006 and to sign an appreciation banner to show support for our local law enforcement. We are also asking everyone to make a donation to Hokies United which will be used to support the recognition of all agencies who worked on behalf of the safety of our university and community during the events of August 20 and 21st and throughout the year. Additionally, these efforts will support funds in the memory of Montgomery Regional Hospital security guard, Derrick McFarland, and Montgomery County Sheriff's Department deputy, Corporal Eric Sutphin.
